Water Damage- Bacteria/Mold Treatment

Controlling Bacterial Growth
The principle goal in water damage restoration is fast response, complete water removal and effective drying in the shortest amount of time possible. Bacterial growth can begin in as little as 24 hours, but grows exponentially with each passing day. Flood water that starts out as clear water can become contaminated and potentially hazardous water if left unattended.
Various germicide and biocides (anti-microbial) can be used to treat bacterial growth when it is already present. These products are designed to not only kill bacteria but also provide a layer of protection that inhibits bacteria from growing and multiplying. For that reason we subscribe to the theory that anti-microbial treatment should be applied to the wet areas to retard bacterial growth even if no growth is observed. RestorTech uses an EPA-registered biocide called Sporicidin.
Mold Remediation
RestorTech technicians are qualified to carry out protocols written by a qualified environmental hygienist with strict adherence to published mold remediation standards. Our focus in mold remediation, as in every facet of the work we do, is first and foremost the safety of our customers and our crews. Special precautions and personal protective equipment must always be used when dealing with mold.
If you have a serious mold contamination, we recommend that you contact a qualified environmental hygienist (see our Specialty Services Network). They will identify the level and type of contamination and develop a protocol to correct it. In most cases, the source of contamination must be identified and corrected first, and then the affected materials must be removed. It is the method of correction and removal that, if not done in accordance with written standards, can make the situation far more detrimental than it already is.
