Water Damage- Padding Replacement & Carpet Repair
After our emergency technicians have removed the affected padding and properly dried the carpet and sub floor it is time for us to come back and complete the restoration process. In order for us to repair the carpet we will need to replace the carpet padding. There are many different types of padding that come in a variety of thicknesses and densities. It is our goal to find the exact match to the pad that you had but often we run into difficulties. Padding, like any other manufactured material, is subject to being discontinued. One option is that we can offer a similar pad that is not an exact match but will feel the same once the carpet has been installed. If an adequate substitute cannot be found, removal and replacement of the entire discontinued pad may be the only other option.
Once we have obtained replacement padding, we will schedule a time for the re-installation and cleaning to be done. Many times it is necessary to open seams in carpet to gain access to the affected pad below. Homeowners are strongly encouraged not to attempt this on their own. Seams cannot be properly repaired if they are not professionally opened.
Our certified technicians are cross-trained to install the pad, re-attach the carpet, repair seams, replace any metal thresholds, etc. You will be informed of any potential problems before we attempt to repair water damaged carpet. Following the repair we will need to schedule the final phase of the restoration…the carpet cleaning by our powerful truck mounted hot water extraction machine.
